yes, awesome...

(A review of Toe Jam & Earl II in Panic on Funkotron)Granted, this was a silly game, and the graphics were cartoony, and a lot of it didn't really make sense plot-wise (human tourists have invaded their planet?) but the music was funk-a-licous and it was a good time.
And, there are dancing aliens, dancing to the beat.
By the way, the subject title is based on 2 words said about a million times during the game in a slightly creepy, low voice.
Oh, and the purple boogey-man guy has the best sound too.

(A review of Diablo II)Man, did I burn a lot of hours on this game....
It didn't help that I was in college when this was out and my roommates and I played it all the time. The "problem" with this game is once you start, you can't stop. You run around as this little person and you kill something, then you get a better weapon and kill more, faster, and keep getting stronger, so you kill and pillage more... you get the idea.
Tons of replay as the various characters with different routes to take with their skills, then you can try to collect all the rare items, and sets, and then you can try it on a greater difficulty...
The only reason it got an 8 was that it wasn't as cool once the Expansion set came out... but still a classic.

Chopper Chicks in Zombietown
Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 26 January 2007 02:10
(A review of Cycle Sluts)Holy cow, this is arguable the worst movie I've ever seen.
There are so many reasons why it's bad, bad acting, bad effects, bad dialogue, a kid gets eaten by zombies that have been released at the beginning, chopper chicks getting run over by their own bikes...
You get the idea.
Billy Bob Thornton is in it. Hey, you gotta start someplace...

Time Travel
Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 26 January 2007 12:59
(A review of Back to the Future)Ah, the classic 80's time travel movie, definitely my favorite of the time travel genre. While watching this movie you can't help but wonder what it would be like to go back and meet your parents, would you like them, hang out, think they're losers?
Kind of frightening really....
Fun adventure, and I'll admit, I always get nervous at the end. Some great soundtrack songs too from Huey Lewis (who plays the judge of the bands at the beginning...)

I want it all, on UHF
Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 26 January 2007 11:59
(A review of UHF)Didn't do so hot when it first came out, I guess it's just not for people outside the Weird Al fan group. It had a tough release date with movies like Batman, Indy 3, and Lethal Weapon 2 coming out about the same time, not much room for Al.
Typical Al, lots of parodies, silliness, pointlessness, and Michael Richards as the goofy janitor/tv host. I am a fan of simple movies that you don't have to think too much, and this is one of them. Good times.
Look for Alfred Molina (Doc. Ock in Spider-man 2) at the very beginning...

Chrono Trigger
Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 26 January 2007 11:36
(A review of Chrono Trigger)This was one of the first games I can remember playing that had multiple outcomes depending on who you beat it with, and at what point in the game. You've got a bunch of characters you pick up in the game to make your little team, lots of skills (magic and stuff), plenty of weapons, armors, etc. to buy and some fun character dynamics.
You can take plenty of hours exploring this game which is as great now as when it first came out. If you play SNES and rpgs, then you have to have played this one.
•Followed by an okay sequel
•Also fun to play around with with some game genie codes...

God of War
Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 26 January 2007 11:29
(A review of God of War)I guess I'd consider myself an average skill game player, and this game took me quite a few tries to get through at several points in the game. Not that I'm bad... I just had a hard time surviving the big monsters and baddies.
You've got a sweet weapon with skills to upgrade as you progress through the game, and a storyline that's an interesting twist on a bit of mythology. Lots of beasts, blood and mayhem. Good puzzles, and cool button combos for special attacks, and great boss battles. Bit of a button masher at times to survive, and the only game that has ever made my hands ache after playing it.
Maybe that's just me though.
Remember this one isn't for Grandma or the kids!

Zelda

(A review of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker)I wouldn't say that I've wasted countless hours on this game, but I've sat in bed for long periods of time trying to complete all of the extras in this game.
It's colorful, great Zelda story, lots of extra missions, neat weapons, plenty of gameplay, and most of all, fun, which is really what I'm looking for in a game.

Wit
Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 26 January 2007 11:16
(A review of Wit)I actually got to watch this in a grad school class, and as a DPT student it's upsetting to see a patient treated the way the main character is. It is a fairly realistic interpretation of a cancer patient and what they go through during their treatment. The narration is tongue-in-cheek and makes you wonder if all pts going through this process think the same way...
Very good and tugs at the heart strings, Emma Thompson is great, as usual.
