Run Lola

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 28 January 2007 01:21 (A review of Run, Lola, Run)

I watched this one in the theater at my college, and I thought it was pretty cool.

Lola's bf calls to tell her he's going to rob a bank so he can get some money he owes so he's not rubbed out. What happens is we see several different scenarios based on little changes that could occur with all the variables out there.

I'd like to see it again to pick up on the nuances.

it's only a flesh wound...

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 28 January 2007 01:14 (A review of Waxwork II: Lost in Time)

I caught this on TV one late night, and had no idea what it was. Then it got to the scene where Bruce Campbell gets salt, vinegar and various things thrown at his open chest wound, and I nearly lost it.

Our buddy Mark is jumping through time trying to help his girl and stop evil, movie tries to be a little scary, but it's really just silly.

Go for it if you need a couple of cheap laughs and some okay parodies.

Best line: "You have wandered into God's Nintendo Game."

Great music

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 28 January 2007 01:02 (A review of Dreamgirls)

Yes, I got dragged to this by my gf, but I will say that I did like it. It's got great music (if you like the mo-town style) and I like the fact that it doesn't concentrate on just one character, it covers many.

Eddie Murphy was great, but I couldn't help but think of Donkey when he was singing....

Oh Cyrus, you so crahzy

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 28 January 2007 12:59 (A review of Thirteen Ghosts)

I was surprised I liked this as much as I did, I figured it was just a haunted house style thing.

But, I thought the overall plot was kinda cool, good effects (although there was some strobe-light action which was a little much.

A guy builds this "house" which has a bunch of specific ghosts there to make some thing happen.
Is that vague enough? Well, then go see it.

Yes, it's violent, and graphic and such, but what happens to the lawyer is gnarly.

Yes, gnarly.

Yikes

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 28 January 2007 12:48 (A review of Babes in Toyland)

So Lisa gets hit on the head and is transported to a magical land where she has to stop an evil guy from taking over. Can the townsfolk warm Lisa's heart to stop him and show her that toys are fun and grand 'n stuff?

Sigh, it was just a lame holiday Oz-wannabe with some bad musical numbers. Oh well.

Well Keanu, you have to start someplace, but did it have to be in this?

Dance magic, dance

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 28 January 2007 12:41 (A review of Labyrinth)

My brother and I watched this movie so many times on VHS that the audio at the beginning was all warped and off. But it leveled out as after the credits.

Sarah has wished her annoying baby brother away, and it's up to her to go into the labyrinth and solve a few puzzles, and avoid some dangers to get him back in a mere 13 hours.

Great music by David Bowie (who is perfect as the Goblin King), a very young Jennifer Connelly, and a cast of unusual and crazy puppets to guide her along the way.

Watch it through the second time to pick up interesting things in the background.

Poor, poor, Tom

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 28 January 2007 12:32 (A review of Turner & Hooch)

Even though I saw this as a kid, I guess I just don't find drooling dogs that destroy everything all that funny.

And I seem to remember some guy behind us getting up and walking out muttering about how stupid it was. I don't plan on putting myself through it again.

Best pause ever

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 28 January 2007 12:16 (A review of Battletoads)

So your frog buddy is on a date with a human princess, and is kidnapped, go through some crazy worlds and pound the heck out of anything in your way. It might be a rip-off of TMNT, but these frogs use their fists. Nice variety in the levels and some cool graphics for the NES.

I should give it a 10 just for the greatest pause theme ever.

Dropped it a point because it was really hard to get through many of the levels.

A frog?

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 28 January 2007 12:10 (A review of Blaster Master)

So you jump into a descending tunnel after your frog who just jumped on a container of toxic waste only to hit the bottom and find an abandoned tank-thing and a special suit that just happens to fit you. Now you're going through the underworld in and out of tank to find your frog.

One of the first Nes games we got, so holds a special place in my heart. Fun, if you could get by the stupid 3rd boss...

K-nuck

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 28 January 2007 11:36 (A review of Sonic & Knuckles)

More of the same running around and collecting rings, but how cool was this for having the capability of plugging in another sonic game into it, and then you could play another different game?

Fast paced, tricky extra levels, and lots of rolling around.

One of the best Sonic games imho.
